Panasonic KX-TGF320 Corded & Cordless Phone Review

Panasonic KX-TGF320 Corded & Cordless Phone Review

The Panasonic KX-TGF320 is marketed by Panasonic as a Home Office Phone. It combines a corded deskphone with a cordless handset and is packed with a range of useful DECT features.

Design & build

The corded deskphone features a large 3.4” monochrome display. There is a tilt function, which helps to make the screen that much easier to see when sitting down at a desk.  There are also programmable one-touch dialling buttons for favourite takeaways, friends, family members or important business contacts.  and a loudspeaker on the base.

Panasonic cordless phones always feel well made for the price you pay. Admittedly, the TGF320 is a bit plasticky, but the display is good and seems to be well made.

Set-up

Panasonic phones are very straightforward to set-up and the KX-TGF320 is no exception. The corded unit connects to your telephone line and power socket and the additional handset needs to be connected to a power socket. The phonebook can be shared between the corded and cordless handset and the menu is user-friendly and easy to navigate.

The instruction manuals for Panasonic phones have been the cause of complaint on more than one occasion.

Sound quality

Whilst it doesn’t score top marks for sound the Panasonic KX-TGF320 still performed extremely well in our tests for call clarity and has an excellent loudspeaker.  We conduct control calls from landline to landline, and mobile to landline through the earpiece and the loudspeaker to assess call quality and experienced zero distortion or interference. The range of volume is more than adequate for anyone who doesn’t have a hearing impairment, and the sound quality is superior to similarly priced corded phones by BT.

Range

In our tests for range the Panasonic KX-TGF was very good providing close to the maximum range quoted of 50 metres range indoors and 300 metres outdoors. The strength of the signal didn’t quite match that of some of the more expensive Gigaset models with a deterioration in sound quality at the maximum range. However, it fared far better than BT cordless phones and other cheaper inferior models. The phone is also repeater compatible so it is possible to extend the range if needed.

Features

The Panasonic KX-TGF320 comes with all the features you might expect from a Home Office phone. Calls can be transferred between the corded base and the additional cordless handset. It is also possible to make internal calls and the base is expandable to take up to 6 cordless handsets.

Further benefits include:

  • Answering machine with 40 mins recording time
  • Nuisance Call Blocking (block calls from specific numbers and whole groups of numbers)
  • Caller ID
  • Do Not Disturb Mode

Panasonic KX-TGF320: The Verdict

Overall the Panasonic KX-TGF320e is an excellent landline phone and is the perfect choice is you’re looking for a corded and cordless phone combo. Sound quality is good, range is excellent, it is easy to use, and comes with plenty of features so represents excellent value for money. Whether for a home office, small business, or just for home use the Panasonic KX-TGF320 won’t disappoint.
