    Gigaset S850A Trio Cordless Phone

Have tried all ways of turning up the handset volume, if you were hard of hearing or in a noisy room then these are not very loud, a shame as rest of features good.

    Good points
    - Easy to read screen
    - Sound quality
    - 2-year guarantee

    Bad points
    - Max volume could be louder

Should have bought one ages ago!

I was worried about the price of this phone but sometimes in life you have to pay for quality, this is the one and only phone that is truly worth every penny. I cant fault it, it does more than I could have dreamed of.

As I work nights I needed a phone upstairs that I could turn off while I sleep, this phone goes 1 better and can be silenced between the hours of your choice, so no more being woken up by my kids friends when they call at 8am, but you can leave the other phone to ring normally downstairs. The tones and rings are also nice, with a good choice.

When it's in the stand its a clock, (it can be an alarm clock as well). It was easy to set up, both phones talk to each other so you only have to set up one. It has as many features as most modern mobile phones, (Calender, room monitor and many more) nothing like the horrible BT phone it replaced. You can also set this up to 2 or it maybe 3 different eco levels to save some money on the electric.

I would recommend spending the extra on this phone, it looks and feels great & I think if you look after it, it will last for years. I also recommend buying it from Ligo, that was an easy worry free internet experience. Well Done Ligo. Well Done Siemens (please don't change a thing)!

    Pros:
    • Very good sound quality (especially on speakerphone)
    • Easy basic setup
    • Battery lasts forever
    • 2 year warranty

    Cons:
    • It is expensive, but it looks and feels like a good quality product.

    What a relief!

Such a relief after having had a truly dreadful experience with the BT 6500 trio (which are going to the tip). Unlike the BT ones, the Siemens phones have given us no issues whatsoever with sound quality, interference or difficulties in positioning. (The BT ones had even made me wonder if there was a problem within the house itself!!) True, they are fairly expensive but for me it was money well spent for peace of mind, especially as we are both self employed. The only very minor issue I had is that updating the phone lists across all three sets was a bit time consuming, but the plus side is that you could perhaps add different sets of numbers in different rooms if you wanted. I personally don't forsee needing all the extra features like alarms calenders etc, but they seem good. I would definitely recommend this phone if you want clear communication without noisy "interference".

Service from ligo was exemplary and would have no qualms about ordering from them in future!

    Disappointed

I purchased these phone to replace BT versions which were passed their prime. I went by the numerous reviews which sing the praises of this system. To say I am disappointed would be a gross understatement. The phone is complicated to set up if you want to use its claimed features beyond making phone calls! Numerous features just do not work and having contacted Gigaset directly their best advice was to disconnect the internet as the features rely on the Gigaset server which has not worked for months!!!
If you are a UK customer the UK is not on the list of supported countries for a number of the features.
For no reason I can find the clock will work fine for a few days and then suddenly changes not only the time but the date AND THE YEAR (2036 the last time!) The only solution is a complete reset when you notice but in the meantime all the messages and call times are wrong.
The only good feature about this phone is the sound quality But I have paid a lot of money for that feature. Would I recommend this phone? NO. I would like to return this phone but am now past the time and I can't say it doesn't work under the warranty because it is the system not the phone!!

    These are OK

Having had a succession of different phone units and bases over the years, we probably would have stayed with the Panasonic having got used to their menu system, however the displays were like Blackpool illuminations during the dark hours so the Siemens trumps it with its display being taken back to nothing and obviously all coming to life on touching a button or receiving a phone call. The rings tones are a bit feeble....if your working in the kitchen with mechanical objects like a mixer etc, its not easy to pick up the sound. The system was delivered in boxes which seemed to have been involved in some brutal war games, they were crushed and badly damaged to the extent that we checked the contents VERY carefully and initially thought we had been sold a second hand set. It all went together relatively well, it works well once you get used to its hard to fathom and slightly illogical menu system, but other than that its OK. The quality isnt any better than other makes for the hand and base sets, lets just hope it lasts the distance.

    Fist class phones

I bought three of these phones to replace a previous set or Gigaset phones I had been using for a few years now and although they were still working I had become a little hard of hearing and had to wear hearing aids. I saw on reading about these phones that they would connect to my hearing aid and they work great. A very good buy and I must say that the young lady at ligo was very helpful to me when I had a little trouble setting them up ( my fault) the service I received from her was brilliant.A great set of phones and fist class service from Ligo.

    Market leader

We had a BT cordless phone previously, this was hopeless. We owned for less than year and the sound was awful and it often cut off. But we've been really impressed with the sound quality of these phones. We haven't yet used all the functions. But I set the three phones up in minutes, with no problems.
