If you’ve spent some time browsing through our products, you might have noticed that there are two different versions of the Gigaset S850A available: the standard package, and a GO model. What’s the difference between these? We’re glad you asked! In this post, we’ll clear up what the GO provides that the basic package doesn’t, and help you decide which option is best for you.

First of all, let’s look at what both versions have in common. The standard version of the Gigaset S850A already comes with a host of great features. From the superb sound quality and lengthy answering machine, to the anonymous call blocker and ECO DECT feature, the S850A has a lot going for it.
The Gigaset S850A GO package still provides you with all of those features. On top of that, though, it opens up a whole new world of phone calls: VoIP. Rather than a standard landline, VoIP lets you make calls through the internet. We’ve covered all the benefits of VoIP elsewhere, but it’s worth going back over them again in case you’re not up to speed.
The main draw of VoIP is the cost. As you’ll already know, landline calls can be expensive- especially when you’re calling abroad. With VoIP, though, everything is done through the internet- so providers pay much lower overheads. They then pass those savings on to the customer, so VoIP calls are only a fraction of the price of traditional landline calls.
VoIP also makes international charges a thing of the past. Almost all VoIP providers don’t add any extra fees when you call someone in another country. If you’ve got friends and relatives living abroad, you can now call them up whenever you like- without worrying about the impact on your phone bill. One last thing to mention: you can even call other Gigaset GO phones, absolutely free. With the S850A GO, you really do stand to save a pretty penny in the long term.
While VoIP is certainly transforming the way we talk to each other, landline isn’t dead just yet. Not everyone has made the switch into the digital era, so how do you contact them without a landline phone? The short answer is: you don’t. Luckily, though, the Gigaset S850A GO still gives you the landline connectivity of the basic version. That way, all bases are covered, and you can keep in touch with just about everyone with a phone.
That trademark Gigaset HD sound extends across both landline and VoIP calls, too. As one of the brand’s most advanced handsets, you’ll notice the difference in sound quality from the very first call you make.
The standard Gigaset S850A comes with an integrated digital answering machine, with 55 minutes of recording time. On top of that, though, the GO box also includes three dedicated VoIP answering machines, too. These are also 55 minutes in length, and each one can be assigned to its own VoIP line. If you’re planning on using VoIP in your business, then this can really come in handy. Everyone will have their own answering machine, and the messages won’t get mixed up. What could be simpler?
If you’re just looking for a standard cordless phone, then we can’t recommend the Gigaset S850A enough. As well as that HD sound quality, it also comes with plenty of features that help it stand out from the crowd. If you’re ready to make the leap into VoIP, though, then the GO version is the choice for you. All you need to do is get set up with a VoIP provider, and you’ll have everything you need to start using this cutting-edge communication method. Either way, you really can’t go wrong with the S850A!
