The Plantronics Gamecom 780 is a remarkable gaming headset that delivers crisp audio in Dolby Digital virtual 7.1 surround sound for an immersive audio experience that won’t send the neighbours knocking at your door as you play long into the night.
Retro design with controls at your fingertips
The unique retro design harks back to Plantronics beginnings as manufacturer of aviation headsets, and is equipped with exposed cables leading into the ear pieces and a black and dark red finish. It may look bulky but is surprisingly light and comfortable to wear; and as you would expect both the headband and ear pads are adjustable. Controls are located on the leftside ear pad (for volume, mute, and toggling Dolby Digital enhancements on or off) so that you can make adjustments quickly without taking your eyes off the game.
The Gamecom 780 is as sturdy as it looks with built-in spin-joints enabling the ear pads to lie flat when not in use; and whilst we can’t attest to Plantronics’ claim that it boasts ‘superhero strength’ joints and cables (not knowing any superheroes to put it to the test for us) we can verify that they are pretty tough.
This headset comes with additional software for PC, allowing you to switch between audio modes optimized for games, music or movies, and the gaming mode is pretty effective for firstperson video games. As with most highend gaming headsets, the Gamecom 780 uses a USB cable, and works independently of your sound card or onboard sound chip to offer betteroptimized audio. For comfort, the ear pieces and headband are fully adjustable to provide you with the best fit.
The Plantronics Gamecom 780 is a well-built Gaming Headset that delivers exceptional value for money by proving comparable quality to headsets 2-3 times its price. If you already have or decide to place an order for one, why not leave a review here and let others know what you think.
