The Panasonic KX-PRS120 is part of Panasonic’s Premium range of DECT phones. Featuring a sleek design, top-class features, and  with answering machine and nuisance call blocking. Boasting great sound quality, reliable range and a stylish design the PRS120 is a contemporary solution for discerning home phone users.

Design & build

The Panasonic KX-PRS120 might not have the most stylish name but it is certainly one of the most stylish DECT phones on the market. The sleek black lines of the handset and cradle along with coalesce beautifully with the large display and white back to create a striking impression.

Panasonic cordless phones always feel well made for the price you pay but this looks and feels like a premium product. There is a nice weight to the handset, the tactile buttons don’t feel flimsy, and the screen is top quality.

It might come with some top-end features but the PRS120 is as user-friendly as they come. Set-up is plug-and-play on the main unit but each supplementary handset will need to be registered (the pairing process is straightforward and instructions very clear).

The menu is icon-based and clearly laid out, which I found easy to navigate.

Sound quality

Panasonic phones typically perform well in our tests for sound quality and the PRS120 is no exception. We conduct control calls from landline to landline, and mobile to landline through the earpiece and the loudspeaker to assess call quality and experienced zero distortion or interference. The clarity of voice was excellent and the range of volume is more than adequate for anyone who doesn’t have a hearing impairment.

In our tests for range the Panasonic KX-PRS120 provided close to the 50 metres range indoors and 300 metres outdoors that most DECT phones purport to give. The strength of the signal didn’t quite match that of some of the more expensive Gigaset models with a deterioration in sound quality at the maximum range. However, it fared far better than BT cordless phones and other cheaper inferior models. The phone is also repeater compatible so it is possible to extend the range if needed.

The Panasonic KX-PRS 120 is packed with features you’d expect to see in a premium cordless phone. There is advanced Nuisance Call Blocking functions, which allow you to block unwanted calls from specific numbers and whole groups of numbers. Further features include

  • Answering machine with 40 mins recording time
  • Handsfree loudspeaker
  • Caller ID
  • Do Not Disturb Mode

The only differentiating feature is the facility to connect your mobile with the answering machine so that you can be alerted when a new message has been left and dial in to listen remotely.

This is an excellent premium DECT phone from Panasonic that delivers on style, features, and sound quality. At the current price it is certainly an attractive prospect if you’re looking for a top-class cordless phone for the home of office.
