With its Gigaset DX800A, Gigaset Communications presents a new highlight in professional telephony for small firms and offices with up to four employees. The innovative features and modern, clear design in a high-quality color combination of silver and matt and high-gloss black make the Gigaset DX800A the first choice for everyone who attaches importance to a modern, appealing office ambience. The DX800A’s versatility enables calls to be made via VoIP and the fixed network, either over the ISDN or analog line, and represents a future-proof all-in-one solution that can grow as business expands. Up to six DECT handsets can be integrated, four calls held simultaneously (two each via ISDN and VoIP) and three answering machines configured for different numbers. Mobile phones and headsets are integrated with the system via Bluetooth, while the Link2mobile function enables phoning in the mobile network or calls to the mobile phone to be taken by the DX800A or registered DECT handsets. Equipped with two Ethernet ports (switch), the phone can be connected quickly and easily to the PC and Web and thus enables software updates, data synchronization and access to online services. The phone book has space for up to a thousand contacts stored in the form of vCards and can be synchronized with the PC or Mac.
Easy to use and with a large color display
The Gigaset DX800A is operated by means of a generous 5-way navigation key. Users can move conveniently and intuitively through the logically structured menu with its clearly understandable icons. Details are displayed on a high-quality 8.9-centimeter (3.5-inch, 320 x 240 pixels) TFT color display that offers excellent color quality and crispness. Thanks to its ergonomic design, the DX800A’s handset is extremely pleasant to hold in the hand and to the ear, even during long calls. A digital clock is available as screensaver; alternatively, users can upload a photo of their choice. In addition, the display can be used as a digital picture frame with a slideshow function. Lines and numbers are easy to configure via a Web interface, while settings can be stored on the PC and loaded from it again quickly and easily as and when required.
The Gigaset DX800A offers complete flexibility for phoning via IP and the fixed network. If it is connected to an ISDN point-to-multipoint port, the Gigaset DX800A can be operated as a fully fledged ISDN switchboard from the ISDN main connection or in combination with an ISDN/VoIP router or a telephone system (connection to the internal S0 bus). Up to 10 MSN numbers are available, and up to six SIP accounts can be configured for IP telephony. Four calls can be made simultaneously – two via ISDN and two via IP. The up to 17 numbers that are thus available can be assigned individually. Calls over the mobile network are possible with the Link2mobile function if mobile phones are integrated in the telephone system using Bluetooth. Three answering machines that can record up to 55 minutes of messages can be split over three phone numbers and configured individually. Individual announcements and message texts for each answering machine may be used. A timer also makes it possible to switch automatically between the message and answering machine functions.
The Gigaset DX800A stores up to a thousand addresses in vCards, each with seven fields for the surname, first name, three phone numbers, e-mail address and birthday. The user can assign a photo as a picture CLIP to each contact, along with an individual ringtone. Special VIP entries with their own ringtones and photos are also possible. The number (CNIP) or photo (CLIP) of a caller is shown on the display. Addresses can be synchronized with the PC or Mac using the Gigaset QuickSync software, while vCards can be exchanged with a mobile phone via Bluetooth. When connected to the computer via the Ethernet port, the Gigaset DX800A also permits direct dialing (CTI) from Microsoft Outlook, for example. The Internet port permits online access to telephone directories and yellow pages, as well as tracing of the name and address of callers from a number shown on the display – even if they have not been stored in the phone book. There are six freely programmable function keys to enable quick selection of frequently used functions or phone numbers.
HDSP (High Definition Sound Performance) technology, which is based on the Cat-iq 1.0 standard, enables excellent voice transmission in broadband quality (only with VoIP) and so brilliant sound quality. Internal calls are always in HDSP quality. If both parties in an external call have an HDSP device, the voice quality is likewise as clear as if they were standing next to each other. The full-duplex handsfree feature offers handsfree telephony with outstanding sound. A large sound reflex box in the base station offers a pleasantly lush, natural tone. Polyphonic sounds, ten standard ringtones and the possibility of loading individual real sounds make up a range that suits the needs of professional and private environments precisely.
The Gigaset DX800A meets all connectivity requirements with its large number of interfaces. Up to six cordless handsets can be registered, and there is an analog connection for a fax machine. Two Bluetooth connections that can be used in parallel permit integration of up to five mobile phones or PCs, as well as a Bluetooth headset. With the Link2mobile function, calls to the mobile phone or outgoing calls via the mobile network can be made using the handy DECT handsets while the mobile phone is in its charging cradle or at a place where there is good network reception. If the phone is connected to the Internet via the Ethernet port, it displays additional online services, for example RSS feeds, weather forecasts or an eBay observer – and even informs users when they receive e-mail: The mailbox displays a list of mail received along with the sender, date and time of receipt, the subject and message text (shortened if necessary) on the DX800A and the handsets. Software updates can also be downloaded via the Internet connection.
Gigaset Communications makes its products in Germany in compliance with high quality and environmental standards. It uses efficient production methods and recyclable materials and ensures that its devices consume little energy and are low-radiation. The Siemens Gigaset DX800A has been equipped with cutting-edge ECO DECT technology. That means that if compatible cordless Gigaset handsets are registered, the phone’s transmitting power is reduced by 80 percent in ECO mode. If the phone is not in use, it is completely radiation-free thanks to ECO Plus mode. If no handsets have been registered, the transmitter is automatically deactivated.
