What we think: Straight in at the top of our list is the new BT8600 Advanced Call Blocker. A powerhouse for preventing nuisance calls thanks to BT’s partnership with TrueCall who provided the phone with the functionality to block up to 1,000 specific numbers. You can also use the BT8600 to block incoming calls to your home by the type of caller: International, Withheld, and Anonymous, which should deal with the majority of cold calls. And with the inclusion of BT’s Call Guardian to cover anything that slips by (and a one-touch call block hot key on the handset) it can rightly claim to be able to block up to 100% of unwanted calls. Far from a one-trick pony the BT 8600 boasts an array of useful home phone features, including integrated answering machine, 200 name and number phonebook, and colour display making it a worthy no.1.

It will easily put an end to most nuisance calls with the block by type feature, and has a blacklist memory for up to 100 specific numbers (which should be more than adequate for most households). Very easy to use with a large user-friendly blue backlit display and integrated digital answering machine. It too features a one-touch call block key so that you can immediately send calls from unwanted numbers straight to your blocked list.

What we think: This entry-level phone has a lot to offer for its budget price, which is why it’s no. 5 on our list of best bt phones. We were impressed with the sound quality of the BT2600, especially the hands-free loudspeaker, which was better than other phones in its price range. It also boasts a one-touch “Do not Disturb” hot-key so that you can stop your home phone from ringing if you’re in the middle of something (just don’t forget to switch it back off when you’re done!). Further benefits of this budget friendly home phone includes an integrated answering machine (there is also an answer machine-free version of this model – the BT2100) with a recording time of up to 20 minutes.
