The BT Elements 1K Long Range & Weatherproof Cordless Phone is Available Now!

BT Elements 1K

As most of the UK is being hit with gale force winds and the threat of snow, it is perhaps a happy coincidence and with prescient timing that BT’s latest weatherproof cordless phone – the BT Elements 1K – hits the metaphorical shelves and is now available to order online. Set to replace its now discontinued predecessor, the BT Elements 1K is a more stylish and up to date DECT phone though still capable of braving the elements (though with winds of up to 100 mph forecast perhaps you’d be wiser taking your calls in the comfort and warmth of your home). We take a look at what it has to offer:

Up to 1km range

The 1K in the title hints at the capabilities of this long range phone from BT as the powerful antenna on the base and handset work together to deliver up to 1km of cordless range outdoors. Indoors it will provide up to about 50 metres, but outside provided that the conditions are right – minimal obstructions and clear skies you should expect it to go the distance.

Built to withstand the “elements”

And if the skies aren’t clear, whilst you might not get the full range at least you’ll still be able to take calls in the rain. That is not to say you have to and we’re certainly not trying to encourage all BT Elements oweners to start taking all landline calls outside whenever it happens to be raining just for the sake of it. All we’re saying is that with the BT Elements 1K you can. If you want to, that is…

Further benefits

  • Nuisance call blocking – you can block numbers in 2 ways to protect yourself from nuisance calls: by type e.g withheld or international calls; and/or by storing up to 10 specific numbers you’d like to blacklist.
  • Answering machine – integrated on the base and accessible from the cordless handset, the Elements 1K can record up to 30 minutes of voicemail messages.
  • Expandable to 5 handsets – for larger homes or enterprises, as with the majority of BT phones the Elements 1K can be expanded up to a total of 5 handsets so users can transfer calls, intercom, and have a phone in multiple locations.

Conclusion

We’ve yet to test the new BT Elements ourselves but the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. It is nicer looking and more stylish than its predecessor, and comes with the added advantage of Nuisance Call Blocking. If you’re in the market for a robust and resilient weatherproof phone for those calls in the rain, or need a cordless phone that will provide extra long range (or both) then the BT Elements 1K ticks all the boxes.
